Speech Analysis Assignment:
Spend 10 – 20 minutes watching/listening to speeches from Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. I have provided a variety of speeches below. Pick any of them to watch. You can watch just one speech from each person or a few minutes from multiple speeches. Just make sure you watch at least one from each individual. When you are done complete the following reflection questions and upload to teams.

Civil Rights Movement - Timeline
You will be researching 15 events (see below for events) from the Civil Rights Movement and make a timeline. You will be asked to look at 5 different events on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Although this assignment is broken into 3 days you are only submitting one Timeline (Due Wednesday evening). You may do this on a word document, PowerPoint or handwritten with an uploaded image.  


For each event please complete the following:
  • Date/Year of event
  • Brief explanation of event
  • Impact to the Civil Rights Movement

Week 3: 4/6 - 4/10

This week will be used to review and enrich your understanding of the Cold War as well as starting to research for your integrated research project. This time can also be used to get caught up on any missing assignments you might have. All missing work should be submitted either to TII or an email to me with the assignment title in the subject.  

*Mr. McCrary and I will also be posting various articles for you to read on Newsela if you would like. These will continue to supplement the content we have learned prior to the school closure. Please find the class login info below:

ASSIGNMENT: 

  1. Please complete the Distance Learning Questionnaire  
  2. Please review the events of the Cold War Timeline  
  3. Read through the Integrated Project Essay assignment sheet.  
    1. Brainstorm possible topics 
      1. ​Pretty much anything post 1940s US History 
  4. Do preliminary research through the Skyline Library website and databases 
  5. Submit a research question and preliminary thesis on TII (Revision #1) by Friday @ 3:00 pm  

*When we start distance learning we will be providing updated due dates for the paper. The paper will be required when we return to distance learning on April 20th. Please use this week as an opportunity to get started on preliminary research.  
 
IMPORTANT DATES: 
  • Friday, 04/10/20 - Deadline for late credit submissions. 
  • Monday, 04/20/20 - Required new content begins for course credit. 


    *This work is not REQUIRED, rather it is an opportunity to do some review and engage in enrichment readings to deepen our understanding of the content. It is a student and family decision how to utilize these resources during school closure. They are not required and will not be graded at any point.
